I'm not a movie addict... I really am not!!! Here are just some of the films I've seen lately:
Shattered Glass - This is a true-to-life story based from the life of Stephen Glass. It turned out most of the stories he submitted to the magazine where he works as a senior writer were mostly fabrication. This film just shows us that lies won't get us anywhere.
All over the Guy - I really love this film's subtle take on homosexuality. And I love the fact that gays in other countries wouldn't have to cross-dress unlike here in the Philippines.
Spanglish - Never thought Adam Sandler could be as effective in drama as he is in comedy. This is indeed a great family film.
The Life of David Gale - This film showed how activists can be so devoted to their causes, even to the point of doing the inevitable. As usual, Kevin Spacey delivered a fine performance, so are Kate Winslet and Laura Linney.
Uptown Girls - Since I'm a Dakota Fanning fan, I decided to rent a VCD of this film. Favorite quote from her: "Act your age, not your shoe size!"
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow - Despite the film's big stars (Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Angelina Jolie), I find the film bland and somehow annoying. I wonder why they accepted it in the first place, and Jude Law even producing it.
Hitch - I thought this was a feel-good movie but it didn't struck me that much.
Under the Tuscan Sun - I believe Diane lane was perfect for the role. Sometimes we make spur-of-the-moment decisions that we might regret in the end. But for Diane's character, she succeeded and even made people around her just as happy as she is.
Meet the Fockers - Funny but not so hilarious. Can't compare it to Meet the Parents though since I haven't watched it.
Shall We Dance - Jennifer Lopez still hasn't brushed up on her acting. It's a good thing the film also has Richard Gere and Susan Sarandon to back her up.
My Wife is a Gangster. Very violent and intriguing, but funny altogether. Yet I enjoyed it.
What do you think? Am I a movie freak?
